“Don’t stop, don’t cheat yourself,” Jess Movold encourages her 75K Instagram Live audience as she leads them in jump squats, lunges, dead bugs and more. She is a force.
Jess Movold, once a reluctant runner who avoided invitations from her father while her sister trotted along, eventually caught the speed training bug in junior high. Her newfound love of “run hard” workouts got her to the state championships by senior year. But running was forgotten during college. It wasn’t until her internship with Tommy Hilfiger in NYC that she caught the bug again. The constant commuter delays forced her to run through town in her work clothes to clock in on time. Notably, this running by necessity inspired her to run her first marathon. And her hustling upped her visibility in a variety of other ways. In addition to jobs and promotions, colleagues took note and began asking her for training advice. Then Movold noticed something too: Fashion was not the world for her, coaching was.
From Fashionista to Super Coach
After pursuing certifications and becoming a senior coach at The Fort, Jess’s days are just as long as they were in the fashion world. She calls herself a “vessel for motivation”, helping athletes find “their way” and then reflecting it back to them.
Since the pandemic closed gyms, Coach Jess adapted once again and moved her training to the virtual environment. She now operates from her apartment living room, via texting and Instagram. While this was never her goal, she has demonstrated an ability to transform and learn from each environment. She is an inspiration, both for her flexibility in life and body.
Jess Movold Inspires Every Day
We can all learn from some someone like Coach Jess, who gets up early, not just for herself, but for others. She exudes enthusiasm and motivation regardless of the environment or the weather and makes the most of every situation.
