I went on Brian Jodice’s podcast, Pick Up The Six Productions, to discuss my new book, What’s Your Everest?: How to Win in Sports, Career, and Life. As a licensed Clinical Psychologist and certified Mental Game Coach (IMGCA) I work with highly ambitious clients looking to improve their mental health and/or their mental game. In my practice, I help identify mental barriers and provide a proven mental skills system to improve performance in competition. This system builds confidence and maximizes performance. What’s Your Everest? provides clear, actionable steps that allow readers to achieve personal success.
In my book, I discuss the importance of perspective. You can think of challenges as exciting obstacles to overcome or you can view them as impermeable roadblocks. Those who succeed face their challenges with excitement and optimism understanding that anything standing in their way is simply a controllable mental barrier.
Successful people often make it look so easy when the journey to success is anything but. My book breaks down the importance of beginning at a starting point, utilizing checkpoints, and acknowledging mini-successes along the way. It’s also important that you are realistic with your goals and your timeline. You can develop a realistic understanding of your goals by asking yourself why your goals matter and what you will gain from achieving them. Success doesn’t need to be measured by the absence or presence of the desired outcome. Instead, success can be found in the consistent pursuit of your journey. The key takeaway I want readers to leave with is the fact that success is always within your reach, even if it doesn’t appear that way.
