Everest Strong Internship Program

The goal of the Everest Strong Coaching Internship Program is to offer a dynamic, hands-on experience for individuals passionate about performance psychology, mental health, and personal development. While the internship is unpaid, it is intentionally designed to be what you make of it—we provide structured responsibilities but also prioritize your individual goals and professional development. Interns work under the supervision of Licensed Clinical Psychologist Dr. Steingraber and the guidance of managing intern Holly Lueken.

Internship Expectations:

From start to finish, students are expected to carry out one or more of the following projects relating to public psychoeducation, advocacy, and performance psychology dissemination.

  • Psychology-Focused Media Content Creation: Research current relevant psychology topics and develop psychoeducation blogs, client newsletters, and promotional materials that translate psychological concepts into accessible, engaging content for athletes, parents, and coaches.
  • Strategic Social Media Management: Support the growth of our professional social media presence by curating content rooted in performance psychology and mental health best practices.
  • Outreach and Public Engagement: Assist with promoting published works and coordinating speaking engagements that elevate public understanding of applied sport psychology.
  • Podcast Production and Hosting Assistance: Gain exposure to professional communication by scheduling, preparing, and co-hosting episodes using platforms like StreamYard, YouTube, and Facebook, with a focus on sport performance and mental wellness.
  • Psychoeducation Presentation Delivery: Help develop and deliver psychology-informed presentations and workshops to school communities, sports teams, and other organizations.

Interns are expected to hold a baseline understanding of psychology and its relevance to performance. Interns will participate in weekly and biweekly supervision meetings to engage in structured feedback, case discussion, and collaborative learning with peers and licensed professionals. Supervisors will act as mentors, monitoring student progress on work and skill objectives. Students may have the opportunity to receive training on mental game skills and contribute to the Generation Next Project — a nonprofit co-founded by Dr. Karla Steingraber focused on mental strength for youth golfers. Supervisors will complete a mid-term and final evaluation to identify strengths and weaknesses of student performance, map out the goals for their current role, as well as their overall professional development. Upon internship completion, supervisors will verify the students’ documented work hours and provide a certificate of completion.

We welcome interns who are proactive, passionate about psychology and wellness, and eager to contribute to our mission of building mental strength and resilience. Ideal candidates are pursuing—or planning to pursue—higher education in psychology, sport psychology, or a related field. The most successful interns bring creativity, discipline, and follow-through to their work. As collaboration is central to our culture, we value team players who are excited to learn and grow in a supportive, mission-driven environment.
